Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Reports To: CEO
JOB PURPOSE:
This is a responsible position that involves administering human resources policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing. This position also assists in the administration of the organization’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accepts all applications and works with applicants and department heads; administers typing tests, spelling tests, etc., as required.
• Provides public information such as verifying employment.
• Conducts orientation programs.
• Administers employee benefit program.
• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and insures Shoemaker’s compliance.
• Responsible for Shoemaker compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
• Communicates changes in Shoemaker personnel policies and procedures and insure proper compliance is followed.
• Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
• Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
• Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets Shoemaker’s personnel information needs.
· Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
· Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
· Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
· Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
· Oversees the administration of workers’ compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
· Maintains safety files and records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university is preferred; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
